The conditions in Alaska are constantly changing. Mt. McKinley may not be visable for several days, and then, WHAM! The clouds part, and there it is.

The first snowfall on the fall colors can be magical.

This photo was taken in Denali National Park in early September of 2000.

Alaska is worth visiting several times, because it changes so often. This photo was taken on the Teklanika River. The following year, there was no snow on these mountains.
When the mountain is visable, it can be photogenic from dawn till dusk.
The ever changing light produces a variety of different moods.
This brown bear was photographed in Denali from the window of a shuttle bus. This is an example of a situation when image stabilized lenses come in handy.
This photo was taken by the Savage River in Denali National Park. It rains fairly often in Alaska, but occasionally something good (like a rainbow) will accompany the rain.
The sight of a brown bear on the shore of Lake Naknek is common in Katmai.
Katmai is a great place to see bears. However, the weather can be tricky. Plan to stay several days, and you may get lucky with the weather and the light.
